The game of life is portrayed in this painting where the familiar iconic Queen of Hearts pays homage to the brilliant fashion designer, the late Alexander McQueen, with his lace collar design. Competition for dominance occurs even between the mirrored images with the top figure achieving the upper hand – for the moment. The playing card, set against the black and grey chess board, contrasts concepts of chance and choice while the rose vining unites both environments as they sink down the rabbit hole into Alice’s upside-down world, which remains just a bit curious.
